The CW reveals Official Synopsis of Family Law episode Blame It On The Mother

The CW has released the Official Synopsis of Family Law episode “Blame It On The Mother” (1.09) that will be aired on Sunday, December 4 at 8:00-9:00 PM.

Abigail (Jewel Staite, “Firefly,” “The L.A. Complex”) and Daniel (Zach Smadu, “Cardinal”) represent Trish and Kim, two sisters who are being sued by their estranged mother for parental support. To win their case, the lawyers must prove that Trish and Kim’s estrangement from their mother is due to her emotional abuse. Surprisingly, Abigail finds herself identifying with their imperfect mother because she has been such an imperfect one herself. Meanwhile, Daniel debates leaving Svensson for a rival firm; Lucy (Genelle Williams, “The Expanse”) is melancholic as her deceased mother’s birthday approaches; and Harry (Victor Garber, “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” “Alias”) goes viral after making a public gaffe that is #problematic. And Abigail is hopeful when Frank (guest star Luke Camilleri “The Magician”) agrees to adjust both their custody arrangement, and their living situation.

“Family Law” is starring Jewel Staite, Victor Garber), Zach Smadu, Genelle Williams, Lauren Holly.

The episode was written by Sarah Dodd and directed by Andy Mikita (#109).

Family Law centers around Abigail Bianchi, a high-paid personal-injury lawyer who’s good at blaming others – particularly when it comes to her own problems. After Abby’s husband kicks her out of the family home because of her drinking, she goes on a bender, shows up drunk in court and pukes on a client. The law society’s punishment is swift. She’s suspended, fined, and can only practice law again if she finds a senior lawyer who is willing to take her on and mentor her for a one year probationary period. Only one man is willing to take that risk: Harry Svensson, who runs the top family law practice in the city.

Produced by SEVEN24 Films and Lark Productions for Corus Entertainment’s Global (Canada), FAMILY LAW is created, written and executive produced by award-winning author Susin Nielsen. The series is executive produced by SEVEN24’s Jordy Randall and Tom Cox, and Lark’s Erin Haskett and Andy Mikita serve as executive producers. eOne holds international distribution rights to the series.
