CBS has renewed “Marshals,” the first broadcast series from the Yellowstone universe, for a second season after the show delivered a blockbuster premiere audience.

The series’ debut episode on March 1 drew 20.6 million multiplatform viewers within seven days, making it the most-watched network original series premiere without a football lead-in since 2017, when CBS launched “Young Sheldon.” The viewership total reflects audiences who watched the premiere on CBS and streamed it on Paramount+, according to Nielsen Panel+ Big Data and SCR Live+7 data for Feb. 23–March 1, 2026.

CBS said the figures include only the original March 1 broadcast and streaming premiere and do not account for any encore airings.

“Marshals delivered a breakout performance, capturing a massive audience across platforms and quickly establishing itself as one of TV’s most powerful new series,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “The overwhelming viewer response speaks to the strength of the Yellowstone world, the bold character-driven storytelling from the creative team and the dynamic cast performances led by Luke Grimes.”

Produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios, “Marshals” finished as the No. 1 show of the week with its 20.6 million viewers and helped CBS dominate its premiere week lineup from Feb. 23 to March 1. The network delivered the two most-watched shows of the week — No. 1 “Marshals” and No. 2 “Tracker” — as well as the top three new series, led by “Marshals,” followed by “Sheriff Country” and “Boston Blue.”

The premiere also set a streaming milestone, ranking as the most-streamed CBS episode ever on Paramount+.
"Marshals” stars Luke Grimes, reprising his role as Kayce Dutton. In the series, the former cowboy and Navy SEAL joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, using his unique skill set to deliver frontier justice across Montana.
The drama airs Sundays from 8–9 p.m. ET/PT on CBS and is available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.
